Clear Group strengthens Lloyd's wholesale offering and international reach with acquisition of Newman Pearce & Partners LLP
Clear Group today announces the acquisition of Newman Pearce & Partners LLP( “NPP”), a specialist Lloyd's wholesale broker, further strengthening its presence in the London Market and accelerating its wholesale growth strategy.
Founded in 2019 by Gordon Newman, Neil Pearce and Colin Rogers, NPP is an independent Lloyd's wholesale broker providing specialist broking services to retail brokers and coverholders seeking access to the Lloyd's market. The business has established expertise across Global Specialty, International Liability, Construction, Offshore Marine Liability and Specialist Property.
Headquartered in London, NPP employs 24 people and has built a highly international business, with approximately 95% of its portfolio originating from overseas markets. Its core territories include Canada, Australia and the United States, alongside established distribution relationships across Turkey, Africa and India.
The business has experienced strong growth, increasing revenue from c.£5 million in FY25 to c.£7 million in FY26, while gross written premium has grown from approximately £70 million to £120 million over the same period. This growth has been driven off the back of NPP's very strong reputation in the market, strong referral relationships, and the expansion of its specialist capabilities through targeted hiring.
NPP has also expanded its international proposition through the launch of Silverstar Insurance Intermediaries Ltd, a Canadian managing general agent (MGA) that began underwriting in September 2025. Silverstar specialises in general and professional liability solutions for the natural resources sector.
The acquisition represents a significant milestone in Clear's strategy to grow its London wholesale operations. Clear already has an established wholesale presence through Lilley Plummer Risks Ltd (“LPR”), and the addition of NPP significantly broadens both the Group's specialist capabilities and its international footprint, extending Clear's reach into new territories including Canada and Australia.
Importantly, NPP's areas of expertise are complementary to LPR's existing portfolio, creating an expanded offering for retail brokers and coverholders without overlapping existing business. Together, the businesses will enhance Clear's ability to provide access to specialist Lloyd's solutions across a wider range of sectors and international markets.
Mike Edgeley, Group CEO of Clear Group, said: "The London wholesale market is a key strategic growth area for Clear, and NPP is an outstanding addition to the Group. The business has built an excellent reputation, an impressive international client base and a highly respected team with deep specialist expertise. Their capabilities are highly complementary to our existing wholesale business, broadening our proposition and strengthening our ability to serve brokers and clients across the London Market. We are delighted to welcome Gordon, Neil, Colin and the wider team to Clear."
Neil Pearce, CEO and Co-Founder of NPP, added: "Since founding the business in 2019, we've focused on building a specialist Lloyd's wholesale broker with strong technical expertise and international reach. Joining Clear represents an exciting next chapter, giving us access to additional resources while preserving the entrepreneurial culture and specialist focus that have underpinned our success. We look forward to working with our new colleagues to continue delivering exceptional service for our broker partners and clients."
Dan Plummer, Managing Director of LPR, added: "It's fantastic to welcome NPP into Clear's London Markets pillar. NPP bring a highly complementary specialism and international reach that will open up new opportunities for both of our businesses, and for the brokers and coverholders we serve. We're excited to join forces with the team and see what we can achieve together as part of the wider Group."
NPP will continue to operate from its London office at John Stow House, 18 Bevis Marks, London EC3A 7JB, working closely with Clear's existing wholesale businesses while continuing to support its retail broker and coverholder partners.
